Wake County Housing Authority

Wake County Housing Authority provides affordable housing through the Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher programs. Currently, Wake County Housing Authority owns and manages 345 Public Housing units, 10 Affordable Housing units, and 585 Housing Choice Vouchers in the cities of Apex, Cary, Fuquay-Varina, Garner, Holly Springs, Knightdale, Morrisville, Rolesville, Wake Forest, Wendell & Zebulon. As the need for affordable housing continues to be great in the county, the Housing Authority continues to explore ways to increase the housing stock. WCHA also works with Veterans Affairs to offer VASH vouchers (Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing). This program combines HUD HCV rental assistance for homeless veterans with case management and clinical services provided by Veterans Affairs at its medical centers and in the community.
Veterans who are interested in obtaining a HUD/VASH Housing Choice Voucher must go through the Durham Veterans Affairs. Please call (919) 286-0411 extension 177065.
