Waiting List
- Mitchell Park Apartments will maintain 1 waiting list.
- Mitchell Park Apartments will advertise the opening and closing of the waiting list on the hacwnc.org website, social media, and by email to housing case managers and other housing service providers.
- The waiting list will be open when there is less than one years' worth of applicants waiting. The waiting list will be closed when there is one year or more wait time, based on historic turnover.
- The Owner will notify applicants of wait list status in writing within ten (10) business days of submission of completed application and all required documents. Notice will be sent by regular USPS mail. If identified on the application, a secondary contact person may also be notified.
- While on the waiting list, the family must inform the Owner, within ten (10) business days of changes in family size or composition, income, preference status, contact information including current residence, mailing address and phone number. All changes must be submitted in writing.
- Changes in the applicant's circumstances while on the waiting list may affect the family's qualification for a preference or eligibility for placement on the waiting list. When an applicant reports a change that affects their placement on the waiting list, the waiting list will be updated accordingly, and the applicant notified of their new waiting list status.
- An applicant may be removed from the waitlist at his or her request.
- At least annually the Owner will send an update request via first class mail to each applicant on the waiting list to determine whether the applicant continues to be interested in, and to qualify for, the program. This update request will be sent to the last address that the Owner has on record for the applicant. The update request will provide a deadline by which the applicant must respond and will state that failure to respond will result in the applicant's name being removed from the waiting list.
- The applicant's response must be in writing and may be delivered in person, by mail, by email or updated online through HACW's website. Responses should be postmarked or received not later than 15 business days from the date of the Owner letter.
- If the applicant fails to respond within 15 business days, the applicant will be removed from the waiting list without further notice.
- If the notice is returned by the post office with no forwarding address, the applicant will be removed from the waiting list without further notice.
- If the notice is returned by the post office with a forwarding address, the notice will be resent to the address indicated. The applicant will have 15 business days to respond from the date the letter was re-sent. If the applicant fails to respond within this time frame, the family will be removed from the waiting list without further notice.
- When an applicant is removed from the waiting list during the update process for failure to respond, no informal hearing will be offered. Such failures to act on the part of the applicant prevent the Owner from making an eligibility determination; therefore, no informal hearing is required.
